The principle

Software stacks up like Tetris.

Every feature is a block. Place it well and the next one fits. Place it in a hurry and you carry the gap for years.

I have spent eight years on the same product, so I have seen both. Most of my work is about keeping a large codebase easy to change: clear contracts between services, data models that survive growth, and tooling other teams can rely on.

The boring parts are the point. Tests, migrations, logs and CI are what let a team keep shipping.

Backend, integrations and developer tooling for a localization platform used at scale.

  • Maintain the public REST and GraphQL APIs and the ABAC access control behind them.
  • Built the FastSpring billing integration with webhook deduplication, plus integrations with HubSpot, Intercom, Zendesk, Contentful and Webflow.
  • Moved the vendor marketplace onto Directus and built a file import/export service on AWS Lambda and S3.
  • Work across the stack: PHP backend and vanilla JS frontend on the main product, React on Crowdin Enterprise.
